Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx Sat Nav Unit is a GPS receiver which has the dimensions as 15.5cm x 6cm x 3.3cm. It weighs 153grams.This system is best recommended for hiking. It has 12 channels and it is enabled with SBAS WAAS, DGPS ready facility. The various accuricies are position – 15 m, velocity – 0.05 m/sec, position – 3 m (with WAAS) and velocity – 0.05 m/sec (with WAAS). The update rate is 1 per second. The included grids are UTM, MGRS, Lat/Lon, UPS, User, Loran TDs, and Maidenhead.
The offered connectivity is USB and serial. The interfaces consist of NMEA 0183 and RTCM SC-104 DGPS.
The functions fulfilled by this GPS system are Electronic compass, distance, elevation, MOB (man overboard), heading, ETA (estimated time of arrival), speed, ETE (estimated time enroute), local pressure, ascent/descent rate, 12-hour pressure trend and altimeter.
The warning is given out through voice mode. It has an external aerial arrangement. Some special provisions include barometer, barometric altimeter, optional external GPS aerial connection, alarm, games, clock and calendar.
This Garmin GPS system has a built in memory of 56MB. The removable memory contained is 64 MB micro SD Card. The supplied softwares are map source trip & waypoint manager. The compatible GPS softwares are Map Source Blue Chart, Map Source City Select and Map Source US TOPO 24K.
For navigation this system is equipped with 1000 waypoints, 10000 track log points, 50 routes and 250waypoint per route. Its trip computer gives out information about trackback, average speed, maximum speed, trip timer, trip distance, and sunrise/sunset times.
The built in display is TFT in nature with a resolution of 240 x 160 pixels. The diagonal size of the display is 2.6″. It is colour supportive and also has an illumination feature. This system is fitted with 2 AA types of batteries which offer up to 18 hours of run time.
The supplied accessories are PC cable, wrist strap and belt clip. This product is waterproof with the standard IPX7. The minimum operating temperature needed is -15 °C while maximum is 70 °C. Some special additions are built-in Atlantic auto route base map, RoHS version available and Automatic routing.
